Most drivers who buy a box truck work out the payment and the insurance, then discover the running cost the hard way. This page is the arithmetic before the fact.

Upkeep is the number people underestimate. A set of six tyres, brakes on a loaded truck and a diesel service schedule cost multiples of what the same jobs cost on a car, and they come round faster because the vehicle is heavy.
Note what this figure does not include: the truck payment, insurance, parking, and your own time. Those are real and they sit on top. The $0.92 is only what each mile takes out of the vehicle.
